A B&B with a history

About us

Chevin Green Farm has been my family’s home since 1929, when my great-grandfather Samuel moved here from Staffordshire to create a dairy farm.

About our Boutique B&B

The main farmhouse is a large stone-built property, built about 350 years ago, and is located in beautiful countryside on the western-edge of the historic mill town of Belper. We are a short five minute car journey from the centre of the town and our rural location gives you an ideal base to explore the wonderful Derbyshire countryside that surrounds us.

The farm is a very special place to me and throughout my life I have never lived more than 50 yards away from it. I have many memories of my grandparents at the farm. One of my earliest recollections of my grandfather involved sitting in his garden (which was his pride and joy) listening to stories about the farm. I can also remember him milking cattle in the old dairy – which is now a hair salon – and giving me a third of-a-pint bottle of milk to enjoy – straight from the cow!

I originally moved here in 1985 after my grandfather retired and came up with the idea of diversifying the farm into a holiday business. I got married in 2003 to my journalist husband, David, and moved to a house next door. I returned to the farm again in 2009 and we completed the purchase of the farm from my parents in 2013.

Between 2011 and 2016 we began a major renovation project across the farm, making quite a few changes to the interiors including adding new ceilings and walls as well as many improvements to the outside buildings too. The main element of this work was creating our boutique bed and breakfast, which we hope you will come and stay with us and enjoy.
